The research activity of the Industrial Engineering & Operations Management (IEOM) group covers both traditional and innovative fields. In fact, the focus of operations and production management has evolved from product and manufacturing to the capabilities of firms and collaborative management. Nowadays, Industrial Engineering is concerned with the study of how to design, modify, control and improve the performance of complex systems. It has extended its scope to any physical landscape populated by social agents.
In this view, the main areas of interest of the IEOM group are:
Modelling and simulation in operations research; Service systems; Logistics and production;
Innovation and knowledge; Project management; Innovative and collaborative networks; Supply chain design and management: transportation; material handling, warehousing and inventory control ; Performance measurement; Operations management in healthcare; Workplace safety management.

The Assembly Line Simulator Project

ALS (Assembly Line Simulator), is a Java based simulator for mixed model assembly lines. ALS is the result of the ALS Research Project, and has been developed with the scope to be usable by researchers and practitioners.
